DESCRIPTION:BARONA CELEBRATES THE 45TH ANNUAL POWWOW WITH TRADITIONAL NATIVE AMERICAN MUSIC AND DANCE\n\n \n\nThe Barona Band of Mission Indians invites San Diegans to the 45th Annual Barona Powwow\, a three-day celebration on the Barona Indian Reservation over Labor Day weekend. Starting on Friday\, September 4 with traditional gourd dancing at 6 p.m. and a grand entry at 7 p.m.\, the Powwow will continue throughout the weekend on Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.\n\n \n\nOver 1\,000 Native Americans participants from across the country will showcase traditional Tribal dancing as they compete for over $75\,000 in prize money. In addition to Tribal dancers of all ages dancing in colorful regalia\, spectators will also enjoy the Hand Drum Contest\, music\, singing\, favorite traditional food including Indian fry bread and Indian tacos as well as beautifully handcrafted Native American jewelry.\n\n \n\nThe Barona Powwow will be held at the Barona Sport Park located just one mile north of the Barona Resort & Casino on Wildcat Canyon Road in Lakeside. Admission and parking are free. Free shuttle service is also available from Barona Resort & Casino to the Powwow.
