SUMMARY:Community E-Waste Recycling Event
DESCRIPTION:In order to create a cleaner environment for our community\, the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce is hosting a free electronic waste (e-waste) recycling collection event.\n\n\n\nDate: Saturday\, September 19 & Sunday\, September 20\, 2015\n\n\n\nTime: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm\n\n\n\nLocation: 5500 Grossmont Center Drive\n\nLa Mesa\, CA 91942\n\nParking lot of Grossmont Shopping Center between CHUZE Fitness and Fuddruckers\n\n\n\nThe event is a free service to everyone to properly dispose of your old TV's\, computers\, printers\, and other approved items\, and at the same time\, help reduce improper and illegal dumping in our city and landfills.\n\n\n\nStudy shows that 35 million pounds of e-waste are still sitting in California homes and businesses. Less than 29% of e-waste is currently properly dismantled and/or recycled. Electronic discard is one of the fastest growing segments of our nation's waste stream. 70% of heavy metals\, 40% of lead and mercury contents found in today's landfills are from e-waste. June 12\, 2009\, new federal mandate requires that television stations switch from analog format to digital format\, which means a greater number of televisions will become obsolete within the next several years. \n\n\n\nE-waste includes: electronic products or devices that have reached their useful end\, whether in working condition or not. We accept Computer Monitors\, Television sets\, PC Systems\, Printers\, Laptops\, Copiers\, Scanners\, Fax Machines\, Toner Cartridges\, UPS & PDAs\, Power Supplies\, Main Frame Units\, Networking Equipment\, Mother Board Systems\, VCR/VCD/DVD Players\, Home Entertainment Systems\, Landline and Cellular Phones\, & Small Portable Devices. We also accept car and forklift batteries. There is a $5.00 service fee for Microwave Ovens. \n\n\n\nWe DO NOT accept: Refrigerators\, Washer and Dryers\, Fluorescent Light Bulbs\, and Household Batteries.\n\n\n\nIf you have questions regarding acceptance of items not listed above\, please call Greenview Resource at (562) 912-1000.\n\n\n\nPlease come show your support for a cleaner environment by sending e-waste away from our city and landfills to the appropriate recycling process. For more detailed information on the event\, or qualified e-products\, please contact the Chamber by calling 619-465-7700 or by e-mailing chamber@lamesachamber.com.
