DESCRIPTION:IT'S SCARY TO BE HUNGRY\n\n \n\nLa Mesa The City of La Mesa Human Relations Advisory Commission is sponsoring a food drive to benefit the San Diego Food Bank. The food drive will be held on Saturday\, October 17\, from 8:00 am to noon in the municipal parking lot (Farmers Market site) at 8130 Allison Avenue\, along Date Avenue. Of the 3.1 million residents in the County\, 15.2 percent\, or over 475\,000 people\, live in poverty. Of this number\, over 138\,000 are children.\n\n \n\nThe Food Bank needs non-perishable items such as canned meats\, dry or canned beans\, cereal\, rice\, nuts and seeds\, peanut butter\, canned soup\, canned or dried fruit\, canned vegetables\, powdered milk\, pasta and infant formula. Sorry\, we are unable to accept: glass jars\, including baby food\, home-canned\, or baked items\n\n \n\nQuestions can be directed to 619.667.1167.
